LOOKING FORWARD TO 2008-09
San Francisco Unified School
District
We are a key partner to the new San Francisco Unified School District
leadership team in its effort to fulfill a bold vision for educational
equity and implement a strategic plan that raises the bar for
student achievement district-wide. This year we are focused on
transforming 6 schools with significant populations of English
Learners. Our aim is to cultivate an effective leadership and
instructional system in the schools, turning them into demonstration
sites that exemplify what it takes to prepare English Learners
to become bilingual and biliterate by middle school. We will be
working closely with the district team and the San Francisco School
Alliance to learn from these schools to impact the leadership
of schools across the district.
San Jose Unified School
District
In partnership with Applied Materials and San Jose Unified School
District, we made unprecedented student literacy gains during
the first year of our expansion into the district's 12 downtown
Title 1 elementary schools. As we enter year two of the partnership,
we will build upon this momentum and continue our work to create
a thriving network of schools to serve the downtown San Jose community.
Oakland Unified School
District
This fall, we launched a strategic partnership with national organization,
New Leaders for New Schools (NLNS), in Oakland Unified School
District. By combining PartnersSI's continuous school improvement
approach with the high-performing leadership of NLNS principals,
we will develop and implement a model to demonstrate the kinds
of leadership, systems, and practices that lead to breakthrough
student achievement in urban public schools. We are excited to
partner with New Leaders for New Schools, a high-impact organization
that shares our belief in the power of strong leadership and instruction
to make a difference in students' lives.
