in School Innovation Announces New South Bay Partnership
Partners in School Innovation is excited to announce its
new partnership with Alum Rock Union Elementary School District
and the Applied Materials Foundation. Building on the 7-year
relationship between PartnersSI and the Applied Materials
Foundation, this new partnership will enable PartnersSI to
deliver cutting-edge assessment and leadership training methodologies
to enhance the quality of leadership and coaching in Alum
Rock Union Elementary School District. The work will ultimately
serve to accelerate student academic achievement.

Announces New Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Directors of Partners in School Innovation is
pleased to announce that Dr. Derek Mitchell has been appointed
Chief Executive Officer of the Bay Area school reform organization
effective June 2009. Dr. Mitchell has in-depth district reform
experience in a range of urban school districts and has worked
with some of the most respected former superintendents in the
country including Rudy Crew, John Deasy and John Simpson.

Bay Area school reform organization expands their School
Improvement Fellowship program, a two-year fellowship connecting
individuals with outstanding teaching and leadership skills
and a commitment to education reform and equity, with direct
experience supporting teacher professional development in low-income
public elementary schools.

Transitions Out of AmeriCorps Program
Bay Area school reform organization will continue to implement
its signature Continuous School Improvement Systema
set of integrated services aligned to improve the quality
of teaching and school leadership in low-income, low-performing
public elementary schoolsbut will no longer be employing
AmeriCorps Members to serve these schools.
