Partners is named as a grantee for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Networks for School Improvement (NSI) initiative

In the fall of 2018, Partners began supporting a network of ten Philadelphia schools focused on improving math instruction. The work was funded by a $500,000, fifteen-month grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We are proud to be one of only 19 organizations that received a grant in August 2018 from more than 500 organizations that applied for funding.

These organizations were funded as part of the foundation’s Networks for School Improvement strategy, which supports groups of secondary schools working with intermediary organizations to achieve a common goal using continuous improvement methods.

In our Middle Grades Math Network, we have brought together teachers, instructional coaches, and site leaders to strengthen their skills in intervening with middle grades students who are working below grade level while still providing effective standards-aligned instruction. We have supported conducting root cause analyses of underperformance; establishing our continuous improvement methods within school teams; building teachers’ capacity and knowledge in math standards, research, and best practices; and bringing about greater educational equity.
