Partners Announces New Board Chair and New Board Members

We are pleased to announce that our former Vice Chair of our Board of Directors Michael Hornsby has moved into the role of Board Chair! Michael has 20 years of experience providing senior leaders with high-value technical, operational, and strategic advice.

He currently serves as a Customer Success Director at Salesforce where he works with global executives as a trusted advisor, striving to deliver maximum value to their businesses. Prior to Salesforce, Michael spent eight years in the Obama administration as the Chief of Staff in the Office of Administration. In 2015, he also served as the Acting Chief Information Officer for the White House, where he provided stability and led his team through a major reorganization and service-delivery design.

Michael has served on Partners' board since 2017, and we have benefited greatly from his expertise. We look forward to continuing our work with him in this new capacity as well.

When asked why he is passionate about Partners and our mission, Michael stated:

“I met Derek in 2002, in Oakland, and we developed a lasting bond. Derek has always impressed me with his ability to make deep and meaningful connections. When he and a former board member approached me about joining Partners' board, I was in a way compelled to say yes. Partners is the type of organization that I wish had supported me during my first year of teaching. I consider my teaching experience (albeit brief) the most rewarding and meaningful work in which I’ve engaged. Partners makes me hopeful in that it enables well-meaning communities of educators that seek to engage marginalized students whose untapped or unrecognized potential may limit their outcomes. I am driven to support Partners because it sees and works to create a world without those limitations.”

We are also happy to announce the addition of three new board members including Frances Teso, Niket Desai, and Paul Goren.
