Bela Bhasin

Bela Bhasin is a lifelong educator and a passionate advocate for educational justice and excellence in our most challenged public schools. She is excited to return to Partners in School Innovation as a consultant.

With more than two decades of experience, Bela’s work has included coaching district and school leaders to reimagine and recreate equitable systems and structures that disrupt the status quo so that students of color and those in poverty can realize their full brilliance and potential. Bela also brings a passion for designing engaging professional learning experiences with equity at the center.

Previously Bela worked at Partners for 11 years where she held multiple roles, including Sr. Director of Program and Customized Support, and at Educate78 where she supported multiple schools in their redesign efforts as the Director of School Transformation & Design.

A collaborative and reflective leader, Bela values working across differences to cultivate positive relationships, and approaches her work with humility and integrity. She is steadfast in her belief that to create a more just, inclusive, and liberated world, we have to center the needs and voices of those most vulnerable in our communities when designing spaces and solutions.

Bela has a B.A. in psychology from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai, India, and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College in Boston. She was born and raised in India and moved to the U.S. in 1990. She has lived in California since 2002.

“Systems do not maintain themselves; even our lack of intervention is an act of maintenance. Every structure in every society is upheld by the active or passive assistance of other human beings.  – Sonya Renee Taylor
