Tovi Scruggs-Hussein, M.A.
Tovi is a visionary and innovative educator with a record of notable achievements that she brings with her to the Partners Leadership Team. In addition, Tovi taught at Mills College and became certified with Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, a program that blends evidence-based mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and neuroscience to awaken the best in people and organizations. From 2010 to 2012, Tovi served as Executive Director of the Urban Services branch of the YMCA of the East Bay. Before that, she co-founded and led a nonprofit private school (grades 6-12) focusing on STEM education for underserved youth in the Bay Area. Tovi has received many accolades, including for example ACSA’s 2015 Marcus Foster Memorial Award, a “Community Hero” award from The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, and the “2009 Woman of Greatness” award from the mayor of Oakland, California.
